As the sole national university in Hiroshima Prefecture, Hiroshima University is equipped with 11 faculties, 12 graduate schools, and 1 research lab. In addition to the above, also provided are facilities for educational research and affiliated hospitals. From its establishment in 1949, Hiroshima University has hosted a great number of foreign students. To date, approximately 40% of all foreign students living within Hiroshima Prefecture are studying at Hiroshima University. In order to provide a better environment for study, in 1995, with the exception of the faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, the campus completed its move to Higashi-Hiroshima City.
