Profile
Since its establishment as the prefectural medical-vocational school in 1945, we have been striving to meet the expectations of local residents to raise the medical care levels of the communities and to contribute to the development of medical science itself of the world. Especially after the campus relocation to Kimiidera in 1999, we are proud to say, our contributions to local medical care and world's medical research have been prompted dramatically. This owes mainly to the newest facilities and equipments in the new campus, the establishment of Emergency Care Department in 2000, and the launch of Doctor Helicopter service in 2003 which covers the whole area of Wakayama Prefecture and some parts of other prefectures within 30 minutes. The dispatches of the Doctor Helicopter counted more than 1,000 times in the three years since its start. It should also be noted that in 2001 we reorganized our 3-year nursing college into the 4-year School of Health Science and Nursing for producing medical-care professionals who have comprehensive knowledge and skills in the three fields of healthcare, medicine, and welfare. We believe these operations will surely lead to creating a medical university that shines with distinct identity and brims with attraction.
