Iwate University is a national coeducational university offering a broad curriculum designed to meet student needs in undergraduate and graduate education. The number of international students is increasing every year. Located in the center of Morioka, a medium-sized city, international students are able to build close relationships with local residents. There are many opportunities for international students to introduce their cultures as well as learn about the Japanese language and culture. Such opportunities serve to help students understand Japan as a whole.

Service for International Students
Supplemental Japanese language class, tutoring system. As a regular event, the seminar for cultural exchange for foreign students is held once or twice a year, and from this year, we offer field study trips which let both International and Japanese students go to the local spots in Iwate like Hiraizumi. Health clinic, personal/ psychological counseling, part-time job information, vocational guidance, homestay, home visit, cultural exchange program.
