Profile
The University was founded in 1987 by Shizuoka Prefectural Government. The University is composed of five undergraduate and five graduate schools. It also has a junior college. The undergraduate schools are Schools of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Food & Nutritional Sciences, International Relations, Administration & Informatics and Nursing. The graduate schools are Graduate Schools of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nutritional & Environmental Sciences, International Relations, Administration & Informatics and Nursing. The University has a total enrollment of about 3,200 students including graduate students with a teaching and research staff of about 400. Foreign students numbering 150 are also enrolled. The University is eager to keep its status as a research university by developing the student's respect for and realization of academic achievements. For this purpose the teaching and research staff are encouraged to pursue with enthusiasm not only original but creative researches. On the belief that another equally important role for a public university to play is to serve its surrounding communities, the University regularly offers open classes for citizens on and off campus and helps local governments' and non - profit organizations' projects by dispatching experts on its payroll. The University may not be big in size, but It has the biggest hope possible of distinguishing itself as an unparalleled academic institution in terms of education, research and community service.
